A family ski trip packing system that works every morning

Use one family board, one fixed slope kit for each child and the same evening reset after every ski day. You will know what is travelling, who owns the task, where each item belongs and what still needs an answer.

On this page

The general packing checklist tells you which categories to inspect. Children add a second job: every item needs a person, a home and an adult owner. Otherwise three single gloves can sit on the floor while nobody knows which child is missing the fourth.

This system works with owned and rented gear. You choose quantities because trip length, laundry, weather, age and baggage limits vary. Entries save automatically only in this browser on this device. Print the completed page when you want a copy to carry or share.

Three rules replace one enormous family list

Keep the full inventory in the general packing guide. Use this page to manage ownership, handovers and reuse across several ski days.

One family board

Each task has one responsible adult, the child concerned, a bag or colour, a booking reference and one clearly stated open question.

One slope kit per child

Helmet, goggles, gloves, layers, socks and lesson items return to the same marked place every evening.

One reset after each ski day

Unload, inspect, dry, charge, refill, repack and recount. Keep the order even when the day did not go to plan.

Use the planner online or on paper

Entries are saved automatically in this browser on this device. They are not sent to SlopeReady. Print the completed page when you want a copy you can carry or share. The PDF is a blank print worksheet for up to four children; it is not a digital form. The online version provides four expandable child kits.

The family board: who owns each task?

Mark a task complete only when one person owns it and the open question has an answer. “We will handle it” is not an assignment.

Use the four extra rows here and in the PDF for additional tasks. An adult remains responsible; a child’s task can support the check but does not replace it.

Build a repeatable slope kit for each child

Give each child a colour, symbol or unmistakable bag. Put in only the items for that child and that ski day. Enter your own quantity and backup decision.

Child slope kit 1

Head and vision

Keep the group together so goggles, helmet and neckwear do not migrate into three bags.

Hands

Decide before travel what happens when one glove is wet or missing.

Layers

Pack for function and forecast, not a fixed online number.

Feet and footwear

Socks, liners and insoles need a known drying place after the ski day.

Lesson and handover

Put only confirmed documents and the items agreed with this provider into the lesson pocket.

Items the family shares

Shared items still need an owner or fixed location. Otherwise everyone expects them and nobody packs them.

Details to confirm with the destination or provider

A general family checklist cannot answer these questions. Record the answer, source and date.

Documents and consent required for your actual journey and booking
How children’s lesson check-in, handover, collection and late arrival work
Whether food, drinks or snacks are included, allowed or required
Whether lift access or rental is included and for which period
Which contact or identification details the provider accepts
Where wet clothing and boots may be dried at the accommodation
Baggage and battery rules for your actual transport
Where and when rental equipment must be returned

Put the ski-school handover on one card

Complete the card from the booked provider’s confirmation. These fields are questions, not claims about what every lesson includes.

The ten-minute evening reset

Start as soon as you return. Ten minutes is a working target, not a promise; wet equipment or several children may take longer.

Four common disruptions and the next sensible step

Situation Resolve now Do not assume
One glove is missing Check the last fixed station, transport and lost-property point; use the kit’s backup route. The same size is immediately available at the destination.
The kit is still wet in the morning Use the dry backup or adjust the plan with the responsible adult and provider. A closed bag or any radiator dries every material safely.
Lesson inclusions are unclear Open the confirmation and ask the provider about lift access, rental, food and the meeting point. A similarly named lesson includes the same services.
A bag or rental item is separated Trace it using the marker, reference and last confirmed location; contact the provider. A label guarantees recovery or correct return.

For the journey home, search where items were used

Do not start with the suitcase. Check the drying room, sockets, ski school, rental shop, vehicle and accommodation in that order.
